I) ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENT LEARNERS

Designed to give a brief overview of the content covered in Student Seminars 
Participants will:
- Discuss the differences between Skill-Based and Knowledge-Based Learning
- Become familiar with ways to SCAR thoughts onto the brain
- Be introduced to the concept of THInKmaps
Time: 1 - 2 Hours
(Ideal also for parent evenings)

 

II) SWEAR TO BE A GREAT TEACHER

Designed for all teachers, regardless of their subject expertise, this is an overview of what Accelerated Learning is all about.
Participants will:
- Become aware of the power of multi-sensory learning.
- Look at the importance of using both sides of the brain.
- Look at the close relationship between emotion and learning
- Look at the concept of the mind as a connecting machine
- Be aware of the importance of regular review
TIME: 2 - 3 Hours


III) DO WELL AND EXCEL

This workshop will look at ways staff, as part of the Self-Management and Thinking competencies of the new curriculum, can encourage students of all abilities to realize their individual potential
Participants will:
- Look at the need to promote the magic of happenstance and curiosity to learning.
- Discuss resilience encouraging the idea of working hard without the necessity of immediate rewards.
- Become familiar with the changing adolescent brain
- Look at  Knowledge-Based and Skills-Based Learning and the different ways each is processed in the brain                                                                                                                                                      
- Discuss the need for continual formative learning, including that which can be arbitrary and dull (a frequent reality for future training).
- Be introduced to techniques anyone can use to enhance their knowledge
